Megan McCormick and Amanda Fields

Amanda Fields and Megan McCormick spent over a decade orbiting one another, unknowingly crossing paths at various points in their lives. Both attended East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN, resided in Humboldt County, CA, and later found themselves living at the same house number just one street apart in Nashville. Eventually, the two chanced upon each other at Grimey’s Record Store and instantly recognized a profound love and connection that would shape their artistic partnership. Since that moment, their collaboration has been profoundly driven by a musical synergy and a shared mission of uplifting artists who are often marginalized by the mainstream music industry. Their first collaboration emerged as a single in 2021 titled “Upside Down and Backwards,” followed by “Dying Leaves” in 2023 and “Wild As a Flower” in 2024. Fields’ critically acclaimed debut album, What, When and Without, was masterfully produced by McCormick.

Looking ahead, a double-sided single by McCormick and Fields, titled “Redbird/Rock of Ages,” is set for release in April 2025, with additional projects on the horizon. McCormick and Fields have become a powerhouse of musical talent, matched only by their unwavering commitment to making the world a more compassionate and equitable place through their art. Together, they established a record label and artist collective known as Are and Be Recordings. Their stories are deeply compelling, and their voices resonate with a sincerity that is as earnest as it comes.
